First Virginia’s Marijuana Processor Launched in Bristol

The grand opening of Dharma Pharmaceuticals was held on Saturday morning in Bristol. Dharma Pharmaceuticals is one of four approved by the state for the production of medical marijuana companies, according to WCYB.

According to WJHL, Lisa Smith and her daughter Hailey traveled to Bristol from Richmond to receive their first dose of medicated cannabis oil earlier this week. Smith, whose daughter suffers from a Dravet syndrome (tough form of epilepsy), promoted a change in the state’s medical CBD & marijuana laws to the General Assembly. At these times, Smith believed ‘it was unrealistic’.

To get inside the building, patients must first receive a recommendation from a healthcare provider and register as a patient with the Pharmacy Board.

“We are thrilled to finally care for patients at our facility,” said Jack Page, Dharma Pharmaceuticals’ co-founder and chief operating officer. According to WCYB, the company plans to expand to other regions in the near future.
