From Forbidden to Must-Have: CBD is a Luxury Beauty Trend in 2020

According to a recent article in Allure magazine, the popularity of CBD is so great that they claim we are now living in ‘marijuanality’. The trendy issue says CBD is changing its surfer image for one of the luxurious ingredients of beauty and health.

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most common active ingredient in cannabis (marijuana). It is made from hemp, the cousin of marijuana. CBD oil is derived from flowers, leaves and stems, while hemp seed oil uses the seed extract of the cannabis plant. Hemp oil and CBD have been found to be beneficial for our skin, hair, and even gums.

The skin care benefits of CBD and hemp oil are due to the fact that it is so rich in fatty acids and natural emollients that help moisturize and smooth the skin. Over the past few months, skincare brands such as Garnier, This Works, The Inkey List, and Aussie Haircare have released hemp oil and CBD-based beauty products.

Hemp oil is high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that deeply moisturize and nourish the skin. This oil is very nutritious, but it is light to the touch – it is not heavy or greasy to the touch. If your skin is particularly thirsty or dry this fall, add this oil at night to make the skin smoother and smoother on thirsty faces. The addition of green tea extract, an antioxidant, helps to further protect the skin.
