What are CBG hemp flowers and what CBG flower benefits do you need to know about?
It is no secret that many long-term CBD users eventually transition away from using products like tinctures, in favor of smoking whole CBD hemp flowers. This is due to flowers containing higher levels of CBD and full-spectrum cannabinoids which can boost the efficacy of CBD when consumed together.
Now, smoking GBG flower strains is also becoming popular. The only question is, how are CBG flowers different from regular CBD flowers?
Why are CBG Flower Strains Becoming so Popular?
Since the 1970s, research into the therapeutic benefits of hemp and cannabis has focused predominantly on Cannabidiol (CBD). However, Cannabidiol is one of over a hundred different cannabinoids that occur naturally in hemp.
First isolated in 1964, a less common cannabinoid Cannabigerol (CBG), has recently become highly sought after by CBD users. This is thanks to CBG seeming to offer a wider variety of therapeutic benefits. There is just one problem. This being that Cannabigerol only exists in trace amounts in hemp.
Thankfully, new hemp strains are now being cultivated which contain naturally higher amounts of CBG. As a result, CBG is slowly becoming more widely available.
CBG Flower Benefits
At first glance, CBG appears to exhibit identical therapeutic qualities to those of CBD.
Like Cannabidiol, Cannabigerol appears to be able to alleviate symptoms of chronic pain, inflammation, anxiety, and some neurological disorders. However, CBG itself works very differently to CBD.
After consuming CBD, Cannabidiol is believed to reduce symptoms of conditions like chronic pain, by stimulating CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors in the brain and central nervous system. Cannabigerol, though, works instead by binding directly to these receptors.
By interacting directly with CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors in the central nervous system, Cannabigerol seems to promote more substantial relief from symptoms of pain and inflammation. However, CBG also exhibits several therapeutic qualities distinct from those of CBD.
Research also shows that Cannabigerol may be effective at helping treat serious bacterial infections and inflammatory bowel disease.
How to Choose the Right CBG Flower Strains
In hemp and cannabis, Cannabigerol usually makes up just 1% of all plant biomass. By comparison, Cannabidiol usually makes up at least 10%. Thankfully, hemp flower strains like CBG Lemon Cream Diesel Flower now exist, which contain up to 15% CBG.
This being the case, if you are looking to buy CBG flowers, always look for flowers containing 10% to 15% Cannabigerol. Do keep in mind, though, that CBG flower strains do still retail for considerably more than regular CBD flowers. So don’t miss out on discount offers like the one below 🙂
